Health Education Classes

Various health education classes are offered quarterly either in-person or on a virtual platform. We address various areas of health including but not limited to prevention, management, and reversal of chronic disease through nutrition, physical activity, restorative sleep, avoiding risky substances, and stress management. Managing Diabetes: How to live with it, Managing Life Stress, how to Prevent Diabetes, Learning more about Nutrition labels, Weight Management, High Blood Pressure, and Cholesterol, Food and Culture.

"Power of the Mind: Tools for Everyday Resilience"

Guest Speaker: Dr. Stephanie Brown-Johnson

Stephanie Brown-Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University. Her work involves
providing primary care for Veterans at the Atlanta VA Medical Center and serving as the Director for
Atlanta VA Whole Health. She also previously served as a National Whole Health Educational Champion.
She facilitates a class called Writing to Heal and enjoys using Narrative Medicine and Expressive Writing
to help medical residents and patients reflect on their experiences.
Dr. Brown-Johnson graduated from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis and completed
her residency in Internal Medicine at Emory University. She is active in her community and loves
working with youth at her local church.
